BPL 2017: Mahela Jayawardene appointed as the coach of Khulna Titans. Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene is considered one of the finest batsmen of his time and he as been a great cricketer throughout his career. The Sri Lankan prolific cricketer have retired from international cricket and now he is focusing on starting his career as a coach. Mahela will start his coaching campaign in Bangladesh as recently he has been appointed as the coach of BPL franchise Khulna Titans.

Earlier, Jayawardene took part in last BPL along with his mate Kumar Sangakkara. Later he was appointed as the coach of Mumbai Indians. In his very first season as a coach Jayawardene managed to clinch the IPL trophy for his team. Following the success in IPL, now the batting maestro has been offered the position of coach of BPL franchise Khulna Titans and he finally agreed to the proposal. In an official statement regarding this Jayawardene said “I have the experience of playing here and hopefully that will help me in a great deal to get success as a coach.” “BPL is a high class tournament and I am all set to work here,” he went on to add.
Despite being a regular participant of Bangladesh Premier League, Khulna Titans have not been able to clinch any trophy so far. Appointing Mahela Jayawardene as the coach of the team will surely help them in this regard. Khulna Titans managing director Kazi Inam Ahmed said that they are very much excited as Mahela Jayawardene agreed to get linked with them. “He is a great lead. He got success in last IPL and his presence in the squad will be a great help for the cricketers to learn and to adopt quickly,” he went on to add.
